Moderate/Liberal/Progressive JW here!

dear brothers and sisters,.
i martini, will confide in you that i have become a neutral jehovah's witness.
i wonder if i'm not coining a new phrase here!.
Moderate/Liberal/Progressive JW here!
GC
so, i'm visiting family this week who are all jws.
yesterday, it started with one of them talking about a co giving her some points on time keeping for service.
she is now writing a letter before she drives to service, so she can count her drive time.
From minute I leave my house to the very minute I return home from 'service' it all gets counted; the time I take to post stuff here also gets counted. However, I look forward to a change when time in 'service' is not counted so that we could all, yes all, stop lying about it.

a few weeks ago, i asked you to critique my website article on dinosaurs (http://www.jwbeliefs.com/what-do-jehovahs-witnesses-believe-about-dinosaurs/).
it was pointed out that much of what i wrote depends on the creative "days" being relatively short - something i believe jws teach.. after being prompted to review my conclusions/research, i was more convinced than ever that jws promote relatively short creative days.
the nail in the coffin was the teaching that day seven is indicative of the length of the other six days (i.e.
Go to JW.org and search "Do Jehovah's Witnesses Believe in creationism?"
Much better than coming here and expecting a true answer. It's like getting good, reliable, unbiased, truthful info from Fox News. Get a clue already!

the governing body is preparing to take a major hit.
this recent watchtower shows it.
not the new understandings, but the article on marriage.
Sloppyjoe2 is absolutely correct in his first comment. And adding to that is the so true fact that for the vast majority of us JWs is nothing more than a social club of sorts, a place we were born into, grew up with, or just the plain familiar aspect of it. Take the good, which far out weighs the bad and keep on going!

hi!.

Dear Simon,
Thanks for regulating the nuts among us.

i wasn't at the study at the weekend, the reason was family health problems, but even if that had not been the case i wouldn't have been there.
has anybody else who was there or read the article noticed the unbelievable begging bowl being produced for the pioneers and cos and bethelites, etc?
maybe this has been commented on already but in effect witnesses are being asked to financially support, not only pioneers, but circuit overseers if they need medical help, and to fill in with dealing with aged parents if missionaries are abroad.
Wow, that's a very nice hangout in Wales!
Hey, other faiths have very nice cribs, well, so do we!
I'm BACK!!!
Regarding our "paid clergy" types, believe me, the Org cares for them very well. No money from our family to any of them, especially the CO and above; whatever the Org doesn't cover, the local cong will.
In our case, we only contribute a fair share to care for local KH monthly expenses, same as when we have assemblies. Nothing crazy, just enough.
GC
hopefully it will make them think.. .

eden.
Wow. Powerful, mind-blowing, insightful.
Mistakes like this have made the intelligent JW stop worshipping God with the 'End is near' attitude, rather with the correct mindframe that God should be worshipped according to Rev. 4:11.
The 'Generation' doctrine put it all in perspective. Because of these 'egg in the face' comments the Org is much less into statements like these lately.

this is the scuttlebutt in one of the "bethel congregations" by us.. no details as to exactly what this "faith-testing" announcement might be.. anyone else hear any of this pre-zone visit hype?.
.
.
The Zone Visit presentation was wonderful and uplifting. Attendance was very high and the Spanish brothers and sisters were elated with the magnificent information.
Many of the negative comments offered here are only the product of warped minds, disgruntled ex-members, and plain liars. Lots/most comments here are taken out of context, crazy reasoning only by unruly people.
It was great, children behaved beautifully, and afterwards a group of us went out to eat. Nice!
GC
if to mo's comments in the talk re "parents are to blame for children not being in the truth etc", (and yes, as many have already very nicely pointed out that this must therefore imply that "jehovah is to blame for satan and the angels rebelling"), doesn't this mean then that members of the gb need to step down?.
haven't some of the gb got family that are not "in the truth"?.
hypocrites yet again!.
This expression is taken out of context. Parents share blame when children leave the religion when they do not make every effort to educate their children on the correct path.
An experience was told about a father of many children and he recognizes that the 1st five were given everything towards their spiritual development; but the last two children, parents tired, were not educated spiritually with the same dedication and thus these last two are not as involved in the religion as strong as the others are. So, the parent feels responsible for these last two not being as dedicated in their service to God.
Also, in the same experience was said that a sister married one of the two young men, who at 22 years of age didn't have any privileges in the cong, not even a MS as should be by then; because his non-dedication to the religion, the sister was said didn't have a suitable marriage partner.
This comment didn't imply that sisters only should marry young men who are MS; it's not a guidance or a law, just a comment taken out of the experience context.
